ProActive Copywriting – Complete Copywriting and Direct Response Marketing Services
Your first contact with people is the most important — it’s your first impression.
Whether that’s on your website, your linkedin page, or through a direct mailing, you need your readers to remember you. I am an SEO direct response copywriter and content marketer who specializes in information-marketing and nonprofit fundraising.
Use my copywriting services and products to boost your search engine traffic, increase your conversion rates, grow your leads, and surpass your goals.
Website Writing and Enhancements — By the Page, or Whole Site. Most web pages underperform in almost every aspect: headline, subheads, call to action, structure, audience engagement, and many more web marketing and copywriting tools. Any one page of your website can be the one that convinces a visitor to take the actions you need them to take.
Use my website content writing service to revise or rewrite your key sales, landing, and content pages, and boost your SEO in the process.
Basic SEO Tutorial & Upgrade — Get More Search Engine Traffic without a Huge Cost. This one-time adjustment takes less than a week, but its value will pay off indefinitely.
ProActive Website Diagnosis — My Premiere Site-Auditing Service. Give yourself a roadmap to success for all your future website adjustments. This tool will guide you with professional recommendations, many of which you can implement yourself, and save thousands of dollars in website costs.
Email and E-newsletters — Keep Your Subscribers Engaged. One of the greatest shortcomings of many businesses and nonprofits is the failure to sustain their relationships with the people who already support them. Regular emails and newsletters are the most cost-effective way keep people coming back to buy.
Sales Letters and Print Campaigns — A well-written letter, postcard, ‘lumpy mail,’ or series can still produce high returns, and remains the most effective way to reach the non-internet audience. Despite what you may hear, many people still prefer it this way.
My services are really as broad as your needs. But any one of these five services will result in improved traffic, loyal subscribers, good word-of-mouth (the best form of marketing), and higher profits.
You can learn more specific details about each of my services below.
Website Writing and Enhancements
Do your web pages just talk about you, or do they also engage your visitors?
Whether it’s individual pages or the whole site, most web pages do not utilize effective persuasive copywriting principles nearly as well as they should. Instead, they usually say “welcome” and explain things to visitors. This is ineffective web writing.
Not every page on your site is meant to make a sale, but every page is selling you. Your brand. Your reputation. Your credibility. Your usability.
If visitors don’t see how your product or service connects with their needs and desires, all the pretty graphics you just paid a designer for won’t amount to much. I write copy for the types of pages listed below. You can have me write individual pages or groups of them.
- Donation pages — Don’t turn them off right when they want to give
- Sales pages — make them need to buy with an irresistible offer and message
- Landing pages — link from your ads, emails, and other pages on your site
- Home page and key supporting pages — Often this is your first impression. Don’t turn them away with confusing messaging, a vague brand, or ineffective copy.
- Subscription/SignUp pages — Not everyone is ready to buy immediately. Why do so many websites assume this? Offer a newsletter, and give them a good reason to sign up for it. Ask about simple strategies to help make this happen.
- Information/About Me pages — Build credibility, but also keep them on your site
- Email marketing, autoresponders — Engage your new prospects, but do it fast!
- E-newsletter writing — Keep your prospects interested and informed
- Blog content — SEO copywriting brings web traffic and keeps your site fresh
A note to small nonprofits: All my fees are discounted for small non-profits, so I will fit within your budget. And even if you can only improve one or two pages a month, it will pay for itself over time to develop professionally written pages, headlines, and calls-to-action.

Basic SEO Tutorial and Upgrade – Perfect for Small Businesses and Nonprofits
I added this service while studying nonprofit and small business websites. Almost every site lacked even the most basic SEO tools.
As a result, they are invisible to thousands of interested prospects, and are missing out on possibly tens of thousands of dollars in sales and donations. Perhaps more…
This comes down to two things: SEO and content, and the relationship between them. (If you want to improve your content, see my Website Writing section up above, or get a professional site evaluation).
As for SEO, Search Engine Optimization can become quite complicated when you involve experts, and can be costly to maintain. Large sites have full-time workers devoted to this. The Basic SEO Tutorial and Upgrade will give your website the most vital and important aspects of good SEO.
And, once you’ve learned how to do SEO yourself using the SEO Tutorial as a guide, you won’t need to pay someone to constantly tinker with it. Because this service teaches you the SEO basics, you can adjust your own site as needed. Learn how to do basic SEO, and get started with the upgrade.
For a one-time investment of $250, you receive:
- Upgraded SEO in the key fields Google searches for on all your main pages
- Detailed instruction in how basic SEO works, including how to do keyword research, so you can maintain it yourself from this point forward
- Examples of where your SEO content shows up for visitors
You’d pay many more times that from a firm, and spend many hours learning what I’ll give you all at once. This is probably the greatest bargain of all my services.
Why are so many websites ineffective? Why do so many visitors leave without doing what you want? They don’t even click around much, but “bounce” right out after reading one page!
The Diagnosis approaches your site like a doctor approaches a patient. We know something’s wrong, but all we have to start with are the symptoms. Visitors come, but don’t stay. They click on the Donate button, but don’t donate. They read our About Us page, but then bolt.
Or, they just sit on the home page for 30 seconds, and then vanish. What’s going on?
The Diagnosis examines your whole site to determine the causes of these symptoms. It assesses the usability using a 35-point checklist. It studies the content, and evaluates it using a 24-point checklist. Then, after this holistic review of your whole site, you receive a specific, practical set of recommendations that you can implement to improve your site.
My work is about empowering you to manage your website, but guided by professional copywriting and web content practices. No more gut instinct guesswork or just going by what feels right. You will know what do to, and have the roadmap to do it.
Every single website I visit would benefit from the Diagnosis. Even websites belonging to organizations with tens of millions in revenue. I believe in it so strongly that I guarantee your satisfaction. For more details, visit the ProActive Website Diagnosis page. If you’re interested in learning more, I provide a free phone consultation and will send a detailed proposal outlining what you’ll receive.
Email and E-Newsletters – The Money is In the List
Do you send out a regular newsletter or email? If not, you’re missing out on big money. Email is the #1 way to retain customers in terms of ROI. Are your emails filled with unattractive links? Do you monitor how many people open and read them?
Emails aren’t supposed to be too long. But they shouldn’t be too short either! It takes an experienced email copywriting specialist to create emails and e-newsletters that work. And without email, your loyal customer base will wither. You’ll fail to capture the interest of potential new ones.
What about follow-up? After they subscribe, do they get a well-written welcome series? Or do they get a computer-generated message with lots of jibberish code?
It matters! Make your new subscribers feel welcome. Reinforce their decision to subscribe by getting them excited about what’s in store. Tell them thank you.
If you’d like a professional copywriter to take over or advise on your email or e-newsletter marketing efforts, contact me for a discussion of your needs and my rates.
Sometimes, print is still better. A letter conveys credibility just by its existence in today’s internet dominated climate. A letter also reaches certain populations that don’t use the web or don’t respond well to internet marketing.
With a targeted mailing list and a superb direct response sales letter, you can generate big sales and launch campaigns. But the key to this is the list, because we must know who we’re writing to.
Secondly, if you ever get tables and booths at local events or trade shows, you need brochures and other handouts. These don’t just need good grammar and nice paper. They need to be crafted to appeal to the emotions and the rationality of the reader to generate interest. Marketing Rule #1: Be Memorable!
Get in touch with me if you’d like to run a new campaign or get an expert pair of eyes on one that you have in the works, but aren’t quite sure about.
