Why we wrote this privacy policy:

More than most companies, ProActive Content has a fair amount of disdain for the liberality of abuse of personal privacy that the internet has made too easy for businesses and individuals.

In other words:

  • We hate viruses and loathe the people who create them. Just like thieves who break in your house, these loners and losers make life just a little more miserable for the rest of us just trying to get through the day, and force us to waste money, time, and resources on security software we shouldn’t need.
  • We reject the modern notion of sharing your whole life on social media, and sharing everyone else’s you know as well. Yes, that’s one reason our Facebook page is so lame.
  • We oppose the use of the internet to harm, exploit, damage, or abuse anyone for any reason, whether financial, emotional, sexual, or the all-too common loss of dignity and privacy. And yes, this applies to celebrities too. We cheered at the fall of Gawker, and think just because a person is famous doesn’t give anyone the right to exploit their private lives – which they do in fact still have a right to have.

All that to say – your information is safe with us. And while we are not techno-whizzes and wouldn’t know how to steal your information even if we wanted to, this privacy policy is here to reassure you of our values (see above) and the promises we make on behalf of your information.

So, this privacy policy for ProActive Content applies only to information collected on this website (proactivecontent.net) and any feeder sites, landing pages, or squeeze pages that may connect to it, such as proactivemails.com.

Your Information

We are the only owners of information we collect on this site. And the only information we collect about you, you chose to give to us. This could include email addresses, names, phone numbers, addresses, or any other general location and identity types of information.

It could also include business cards you give in person, and whatever information is contained on those.

But you will never be required to give us anything to simply engage with the site – and this includes popup ads that you can’t get rid of. We will never do that.

We will never, for any reason, ask for your date of birth, social security number, high school cheerleader’s first name, your mother’s second cousin’s maiden name, or any other obscure information that we have no reason to ask for and that you have no reason to give.

And we will never sell or rent your information to anyone, ever, without your consent. And it’s hard to imagine any situation where we would ever ask. But if we are ever compelled by law to disclose your information, we will comply.

We will use your information to communicate with you (it’s kind of hard not to), but we will not your information with any third party, other than when it might be necessary to fulfill something you requested, like connecting you with a vendor or an affiliate.

From time to time, we may send you emails or other marketing informing you of ways you can interact with ProActive Content copywriting or marketing consulting services. You are free at any time to ask us not to do this, and we will honor your request without complaint.

Control and Access

You are free to opt out of any email marketing lists or otherwise that we might have put you on, at any time.

Simply contact the email address or phone number given at the end of this privacy policy, and you can:

  • Find out what information we have on you, if any
  • Change and correct that data
  • Ask us to remove some or all of your data
  • Express concern about how we might be using your data

Security

We try to take precautions to protect your information. If and when we ever get an online payment or subscription form going that requires credit card or other financial information, we will make every effort to secure your data using the various payment processing encryption services that exist.

However, we are not techno-wizards, and any data protection other than what third parties like encrypted payment processors can provide is not within our skill set. We will do our best to protect you, but if some hacker/virus maker/information thief emerges from their cave and figures out a new way to steal information from websites, we cannot guarantee that we will have all the firewalls up required to stop it. But no website can guarantee that – just ask the growing list of major corporations that have been broken into and victimized.

Again, whenever we collect sensitive information like credit card data, it will be encrypted and sent to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for the closed lock icon that appears in the top left of your screen at the beginning of the url, or for the “https” next to it (as opposed to the less secure http).

(Currently, since ProActive Content is not accepting any online payments, the above paragraph is irrelevant).

We also protect your information offline. Only employees who need your information to do their job will have access to it. The computers where we store your personal information are kept in a secure environment.

Cookies

Yes, I’m hungry too. But “cookies,” in this instance, aren’t the fun kind. They are simply a piece of data stored on your hard drive that helps improve your access to our site and identify return visitors. If you’ve been here before, it just makes your return trip a little simpler for all the 1’s and 0’s.

Cookies also allow us to track and target preferences of our users. Cookies do not link to your personal information in any way on our site.

If any business partners or advertisers use cookies on our site, we have no access or control of over their cookies, and you should read their privacy policy to see what they do with them. We can only eat the cookies we have baked.

Links to Other Sites

Some pages of this site link to outside sources. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices on those sites, and you are responsible for reading the privacy statements on any other site that may collect your information.

However, if you find a site that links to ProActive Content that is not honoring your privacy, please let us know immediately and we will remove the link.

Surveys and Contests

Every now and then we might run a survey or contest. Your participation is totally voluntary, as is any information you need to disclose in order to participate. Any prizes would require some of your personal information in order to ship them to you or notify you of your win. Some surveys may also be for the purpose of improving the user experience on our site.
