A Place to Get Smarter, Get Inspired, and Get Involved

If you play a key role in a nonprofit in the northwest (Oregon, Idaho, Washington), I encourage you to attend the Forum on Strategic Fundraising this year.

If you sign up before April 16th, you get an early bird rate, and if you become a member, the rate is even lower.

A few reasons I’m glad I attended last year:

  • Power in numbers – you’re not alone in facing the challenges of fundraising
  • Hear different perspectives and experiences – no one is an expert on everything and we all need to learn from others
  • Meet potential strategic fundraising partners – lots of vendors will be at the forum, and you might find the one your nonprofit really needed to meet

You’ll meet fundraising professionals offering help in printing, video, graphic design, fundraising events, and strategic planning, as well as several types of fundraising software services.

You’ll also hear some terrific speakers on a whole range of topics.

The 2019 Forum on Strategic Fundraising breaks down their speaking options into four tracks. You don’t have to stay in one track the whole time, but you’ll have multiple options for where to go during each session so you can find the topic you most need to learn about.

If your nonprofit sends more than one person to the Forum (which I recommend, if you can afford it), then you can attend more tracks and collate your notes afterward.

AFP Northwest does a superb job in planning the event. They build in time for discussion and collaboration in addition to the speakers and the lunches. You’ll have ample time to meet and discuss your challenges and share your wins with other nonprofits and fundraisers.

If you’re looking for ways to grow your email list, but have had trouble breaking out of your usual networks and the friends of your regular supporters, what I’ll be sharing can be scaled up regionally, nationally, or even internationally.

And again, if you have other priorities more pressing, such as major gifts, developing new campaigns and strategies, technology frustrations, or other areas you need help, there will likely be sessions and/or vendors with booths who can help you with whatever you need.

You can also choose to attend just one or both days of the forum, which gives you even more budget flexibility.

Who Is Dan Magill?

I am a professional fundraising copywriter, author, and consultant who has worked with nonprofits on every continent except South America (you’re next!). I’ve helped them plan strategic campaigns and then implemented those plans with donor-activating written communication.

I’ve rewritten websites, written email fundraising campaigns, newsletters, and direct mail, and helped raised hundreds of thousands of dollars since launching just a few years ago.

I prefer to work with small and mid-size nonprofits, because they’re almost always short on time and struggle to communicate as well or as often to their donors and subscribers as they know they need to be doing.

If you’re not raising as much money as you need, you’re probably not communicating enough. “You have not because you ask not.”

I hope to see you at the 2019 Forum on Strategic Fundraising on June 6-7.

(And – drop by my booth for a special surprise. Just say the word “frothing”, and you’ll get something very special!)
